Our first full day in our new home of Spain! Moving and unpacking is much easier with only our small carry-on bags and back packs (thank goodness we don’t have to move all the things we had to when we sold our house in Sarasota…I’m still exhausted!). There is a butcher shop next to our apartment. As soon as it opened, we had the butcher cut us fresh steaks to make for dinner. Then we walked to enjoy “Sandy Starbucks Friday”. We walked back to our apartment and ate our homemade Greek salad for lunch. We researched and booked our lodging and travel for our time in Bilbao. Mike spent time learning how to set up this blog. I admire his passion to learn new things. He is more willing to devote time to learning things than I am. When we left Sarasota, my body was extremely worn down from all the preparations for this next chapter. I tried my best to avoid catching something. However, a cold virus found me in Paris on March 5th. I was grateful I felt good enough to enjoy the $2 bottle of red wine we bought to eat with our steak dinner (and I am thankful Mike didn’t catch my cold!). Dinner was simple and delicious!

I loved every minute of this day – it was a nice balance of getting things accomplished and relaxing. Our apartment is clean, comfortable, and feels like a mansion compared to our tiny hotel room in Paris (where one of us would have to get on the bed if the other person was trying to walk around the perimeter of the bed).

I think about this all the time – how are you living out of a carry-on forever?! My carry-on is half beauty products and then the other half is all the rest! So happy for you guys I’ll be following along. Have a blast. XOXO
Thank you, J9! We may have to do a post just on logistics sometime and talk about living with the bare minimums. Pretty easy so far – mind you, we are only three weeks in and we do get new wardrobes in a couple of weeks. We’ll explain that more when it happens.
Hala Madrid! Keeping an eye on you guys. Cheers!
Thank you, Kurry!
Easing your way through a day in Madrid! Put that on a t-shirt. What time of day does the siesta start?
Most places seem to close between two and five. We haven’t been able to get on a more regular schedule because of the concerts. It seems that we aren’t up and going until closer to Noon, so it is odd when we get out and every place is just about to close.
Can’t wait to read more of your adventures. You two are amazing!!! (that’s three exclamations).
Thanks for checking it out, J-10 and sharing your comments. So glad that we earned three exclamation points from YOU! 😉
Looking forward to updates on your adventure and loving the pics. The appartment looks lovely, very homey. Though I’m sure you are not there often, but out venturing and seeing the sites.
Thanks for your interest, Aileen! Since we’re following Depeche Mode until April 8th we haven’t been spending as much time in our homes as we plan to in the future. 😊
