Our Story

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We met in 2001 and early on in our relationship we merged our life’s to-do lists. It was clear that travel and experiencing the world were passions we shared. We created a financial plan to retire early. In 2003 we set a goal to sell the majority of our belongings and become global nomads when we retired. We both retired 20 years later.

We spent the last couple of months of 2023 and the first couple of months of 2024 preparing for the next chapter of our lives. We sold our house, RV, and car. We gave away our furniture, household items, and the majority of our clothes. We have a 10′ x 20′ storage unit that contains memorabilia and things we don’t want to have to repurchase. It is freeing to only care for the minimal number of items that fit in our overhead carryon bags and our backpacks!

It is our intent to visit all 200+ countries (that are safe to visit) in the world. We don’t have a timetable. If we don’t like being global nomads or get tired of doing it, we can stop at any time. If we love it, we may still be global nomads 30 years from now. We plan to return to the States for 4 – 6 weeks each calendar year to visit family and friends. And we hope that family and friends will visit us in our new global home (please let us know of your international travel plans so we can see you!).
